Today the forecasters (not the O-lame ones) were promising calm weather. Same promise was provided by Johan Svedin the III regarding the behavior of Atlas (not the Global one).
So perfect conditions to visit Antonia Ax:son Johnson and her Lövsta Dressage and Stud Farm.

However since Atlas thinks that horses are big attractive dogs, we have rather chose to visit just the Stora Wäsby Baroque park, which most probably belongs to Antonia as well.

Atlas very calm after we told him that no horseback riding today:

Stora Wäsby Baroque park is from the late 1600′s and is created by the royal gardener John Harleman, together with the architect Nicodemus Tessin.
The trees in the park is largely winding of Dutch origin, but there are also ashes and maples.
A Viking ship that is placed on poles along the river show the water level during the Viking Age.

I met* the Mannerfelt brothers back in 2008 at the Miles Per Hour and I have decided yesterday to pay them a visit again to their showroom in Danderyd.

Their Callisma currently is not only the Koenigsegg dealer in Sweden/Finland/Baltics, but also Aston Martin importer/dealer in Sweden, Bentley Service in Sweden and lately the Fisker dealer in Sweden.

I just watched yesterday a Top Gear episode, where the normally cynical May praised the Fisker Karma as “probably the most politically correct car on earth” whilst his guest AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, himself a confirmed petrolhead, described it as a “cracking looking jamjar”.
Also the Fisker Karma sedan has been crowned “Luxury Car of the Year” by BBC Top Gear magazine as well as “Car of the Year” by May. Quite strong statements, so I had to validate them .

The first impression – Well Done Callisma! The dealer is just located near a sustainable power plant . Looks rather like a natural environment for a “political correct” Fisker.

Fisker Karma indeed looks like the first car in World delivered just according to the initial drawings. I guess this is not a surprise, considering who is the co-founder of Fisker Automotive – Henrik Fisker, who was responsible for the styling of vehicles including the Shelby GR1 concept, the Aston V8 Vantage and the BMW Z8 Roadster in previous roles at the Ford Motor Company, Aston Martin and DesignworksUSA.

The design keeps sustainability in mind. Fabrics are sourced from the Bridge of Weir Scottish leather makers, who insist upon the suppliers abiding to the Farm Animal Welfare Council’s conditions, and in the EcoChic Karma model (the white one) it is possible to have an interior that is made with completely animal-free materials. Diamond Dust™ paint is free of solvents and wood trims are unvarnished and reclaimed from Californian wild fires.

The company claims that: “orders are outpacing production” and Al Gore, Colin Powell, Leonardo di Caprio and Ashton Kutcher already number among their customers.

Birdwatching, Dogwalking in Angarn Nature Reserve

For those ones, interested only in Atlas showing his muscles on the photos and not interested in reading the below exciting story:), feel free to go directly to the photo gallery.

Today besides getting lost again in another Nature Reserve for 4 hours and again covering a distance twice longer than initially scheduled, I have learned about the existence of the birdwatching phenomenon also known as birding .
This is a very interesting sport and accordingly to a random Swede around the Angarn Nature Reserve, he widely enjoys birdwatching because “…it’s actually more interesting than you think“. According to the same random Swede, birding is an “extremely dangerous sport and should not be attempted by the inexperienced“.

The most important part of birdwatching is having a lonely life. If you wish to birdwatch then you must first become friendless. Good so now that you are alone, abandoned, deserted, isolated, lonely, cut off, alienated, solitary, shunned, estranged, forsaken, forlorn, unattached, lonesome you should be able to begin grasping how to birdwatch.

Preparations
Now you must get your equipment. Being prepared is the most important step in enjoying your birdwatching experience. Many hundreds of thousands of unprepared people have been brutally attacked by such seemingly harmless birds as doves and whippoorwills.
As the sport of birdwatching is extremely dangerous, one must have the correct equipment and training. Suggested gear includes: kevlar body armor, AK-47, hand grenades, crucifix and holy water, a big fat sack of balls, a nice pair of binoculars and a colorfully illustrated guide for correctly identifying your avian friends.

A traditional form of public transport in Lisbon is the tram. Introduced in the 19th century, the trams were originally imported from the USA and called americanos. The Lisbon tramway system still employs small (four wheel) vehicles of a design dating from the early part of the twentieth century. These distinctive yellow trams are one of the tourist icons of modern Lisbon, and their size is well suited to the steep hills and narrow streets of the central city.

NASA – A Human Adventure

Recommended exhibition at The National Museum of Science and Technology (Tekniska museet) in Stockholm about NASA.
From early rocket prototypes to actual Lunar Module vehicles, from interactive exhibits to live linking with the ISS space station, NASA – The Human Adventure brings face-to-face with the people, technology and engineering that took us to space.

After closing on 6 November 2011, the exhibition will continue on a tour of Europe and the United States. The National Museum of Science and Technology (Tekniska museet) in Stockholm will probably be the only venue in Scandinavia.

A Human Adventure was produced by John Nurminen Prima in co-operation with NASA, Discovery Channel, The State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics in Moscow, the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, and White Room Artifacts.

Spring Salon at Liljevalchs

The Liljevalch art venue belongs to the City of Stockholm and was opened back in 1916 as the first independent, public museum for contemporary art in Sweden.

The Spring Salon provides an excellent opportunity to see a great variety of unexpected and perhaps expected artistic expressions and techniques. All works exhibited at the Spring Salon are for sale. The 2011 Spring Salon jury comprises art historian, critic and author Thomas Millroth from Skåne, critic and author Ingela Lind, and culture editor, literary critic and musician Martin Aagård, both primarily active in Stockholm.

Fika at Sturekatten

I have never mentioned about one of the most common Swedish words, which drive the entire economy in Sweden :). The magic word is “Fika” and doesn’t have any correlation to the Russian diplomatic gesture “Фига“.

Fika is both a Swedish verb and noun that roughly means “to drink coffee,” usually accompanied by something sweet. It means having a break, most often a coffee break, with one’s colleagues, friends, date, or family. The word has quite ambiguous connotations and can mean anything from taking a break from work or other activities, to going on a date. This practice of taking a break is especially valid for Volvo and SAAB and therefore the Dutch and Chinese Chaps decided to put some pressure and unplugged the coffee machines some time ago ;).

Talking about the Fika…A really nice place to take a Fika is Sturekatten , which is a hidden oasis in Stockholm: a true old-fashioned café and bake shop housed in a two-story Östermalm apartment building. The décor dates from the turn of the previous century, and the wait staff are clothed in the professional uniform of the time. Classic bake shop goods and a stress-free environment for the customer who wants to chat in peace and quiet or dive into a good book or magazine.
